I love this: "Our choices begin to reflect the peace that we are experiencing within." ~ it describes how yoga changes our outward experience (our perceptions, our reactions, our behaviors become more graceful) by changing our inner experience (from turmoil and stress towards increased peace).

The stories, history & wisdom behind each asana is one of the most valued aspects for me of participating in yoga. If I am at home practicing a posture without knowing its source or lesson, my negative suffering tends to be increased in the pose. If I am allowed to learn a posture's story especially while I practice it, my yoga journey is much more enhanced. My focus turns to the story & I begin to integrate that lesson into my body - at that moment & every time I practice that posture thereafter.

By the way, I so very much appreciate that you use mostly Sanskrit names during class, Meghan. Even if I've forgotten in the moment which pose you are talking about, I enjoy the journey of trying to figure it out!

Great reading.

Very well said Stacey! I love that you are using critical thinking and not just accepting blindly. I will be speaking more of sattva, rajas and tamas. We are often in a flux between the three states. The description of the students is again just a frame of reference, not a hard line. It is a way to make us think about how we approach our practice. (I like the your idea of Sattvic student C)!

Any time we put the limitless within the confines of words and concepts, it becomes limiting. But as long as we remember that we are limitless, there are no constraints.
