Workshops

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is traditionally defined as the “yoga of sleep.”  Integrative Restoration (iRest) is a mindfulness technique for personal inquiry and transformation based on the ancient principles of Yoga Nidra. The iRest technique progressively moves practitioners through the 5 layers of being, reestablishing the essential nature of joy while simultaneously restoring physical, energetic and emotional balance.

This workshop creates a deeply relaxed state of internal attention. The teacher, Suzanne Bigelow, will assist you in finding a restful posture and use specific cues for breath and sensation to draw you deep into inner exploration of your mind-body state.

The Maha (Great) Practice

You don’t have to be a yoga master to enjoy this big practice! Maha begins with chanting, then pranayama (breath control), a mudra (posture for the hands), and rocks out with a good sweaty asana series including forward bends, back- bends, twists, arm balances, and inversions. The series of postures will prepare us to sit in meditation (which they were originally designed to do) and then wind down with a bit of yin yoga – to stretch the connective tissue – and restorative – to cultivate surrender. The Maha practice concludes with a lullaby…or two!

This workshop costs $40 or $30 when you register before June 10th.

RestoraThai: Restorative Yoga, Bodywork, & Lullabies

Restorative yoga is a series of supported passive postures held for minutes at a time. Full of comfy pillows, warm blankets, and massage-like hands-on adjust- ments, the practice allows you to slide deeply into the relaxation response.

You will be swaddled in blankets, massaged with skillful hands, and enjoy the sweet sounds of chanting lullabies. You will emerge refreshed and rejuvenated.

This workshop costs $40 or $30 when you register before June 10th.

Sun Energy, Heart Energy: A Solstice Practice

Rain and roots dive downward in the dark seasons, but in Summer, energy rebounds and life surges upward. Even a humble blade of grass can pierce the earth and shoot skyward to meet the sun. All that has coiled inward unfurls and opens to the light. The sun sends its boundless energy in all directions at once, and like the sun, our hearts can radiate compassion, love, and light into even the darkest corners.

Join us in this special extended class and lift your heart to the sun, celebrate the season of abundance, and share your inner light!

This workshop costs $20.

Open Teacher Training Workshops

These workshops are open to students of yoga wishing to explore the finer points of practice. Each workshop is $30 and you can attend any or all that interest you. We meet in the Momentum Dance Studio across from Yoga Bhoga.
